those two words have been weighing on me for the past few days.

I don’t remember who said it, I know it was a pastor of one of those “MEGA-churches”…Rick Warren, Maybe? .. But he was talking about the reason for this economic crisis being that we, the nation, have fallen away from the Christian principals upon which America was founded. When pressed as to what exactly he meant, the Pastor said simply “Delayed Gratification.” How profound.

It’s true isn’t it. We are facing this “crisis” because we take out loans to buy things that we cannot afford, rather than saving up over time and purchasing it outright we take out a loan and end up paying more in the end than the product even cost.. Talk about stupid.

So with those two simple words weighing on my mind I did it, I shredded all of my credit cards.
I cannot begin to tell you how amazing it feels. You see what typically happens is I charge up all my cards to the max and then work like a madwoman to get them paid-off, and as soon as their paid in full and I’m lulled in to some sense of security, I rationalize that I can go ahead and use them to buy this or that and wouldn’t ya know it… Their maxxed our again…It’s a vicious cycle and I only have myself to blame.
So tonight I took control and have made a plan to get and stay out of debt.. FOREVER! If I can’t afford it then I can’t have it and if I really, really want it well I guess I’ll just have to save up won’t I?
